You applied, waited, and followed up and you still haven’t heard from the account or staffing manager regarding the event. A week has passed and still no word, so what do you do? Following up regarding a brand ambassador or management opportunity can be tough because you want to ensure you are not overdoing it by sending multiple emails without a response and thus ruining your chances of being considered for any future opportunities. Here are some of the easiest and most efficient ways to follow up with an account or staffing manager:
Ask For A Reply
Yes, I know this is common sense, but often times when following up as an EXP, we are either thanking someone for the opportunity or asking to be considered. In addition to doing that, you should ask them for something in return. I have included an example below:
“Thank you Lisa for considering me for the upcoming brand ambassador opportunity. I would love the opportunity to execute this event, however, in the event that I am not chosen, I would appreciate if you would let me know. This will ensure I am able to execute any other events for which I am being considered. Thanks.”
If you applied for an opportunity and have yet to receive a response or reply, be patient. Oftentimes, the agency is still working with the client to solidify last-minute event details, and a few changes could be made to the overall event. So, give that account or staffing manager time to follow up with any event details. My rule of thumb is no later than 48 hours from the time you applied or had initial contact with the account or staffing manager.
Don’t Get Discouraged
Let’s say you did everything right. You applied, responded to the initial emails, sent all of your info and never received any additional communication. Or, maybe you applied, followed up, and asked for a reply and still haven’t heard anything after applying for the opportunity. Do not get discouraged. That event may not be for you. It can take days, weeks, and even months before you are awarded an opportunity, so continue to apply and be patient.
Even if you are not chosen initially for an opportunity and no one follows up, it is common for account and staffing managers to reach out to fill last-minute positions. If this happens, it’ll be up to you to decide if it makes sense to execute the event. Many EXP’s see it as a chance to get their foot in the door after not being considered previously, while some decline and see it as a slap in the face for not being considered initially. Ensuring that you maintain my 3 P’s that I discuss in “You Do What?”, and follow up whether you are awarded an opportunity or not, is essential to building a relationship with account and staffing managers.
